Tips for graduating on time
- Schedule a teacher or counselor conference
- Schedule a face-to-face conference with the teacher prior to mid-quarter.
- Ask teachers about assignment expectations and discuss re-testing, test correction and late assignment policies.
- If you need to meet with multiple teachers, ask the school counselor to arrange a conference for you.
- Avoid excessive absences (10+) in any class
- Any student with more than 10 absences in a class must attend an after-school program for absence recovery or receive an "F" in the course. It is very important to complete recovery in a timely manner.
- If the course is required for graduation, the student will have to re-take the failed course.
- Check with your student’s counselor about this policy.
- Ask about missing credits
- Know the graduation requirements (linked on this page). Contact your student's counselor if you have questions or concerns about credits.
- Enroll in credit recovery or other course offerings to catch up and graduate on time if needed.
- Check Power School regularly to see if there are any missing assignments or tests.
- Request a conference to find out if your student can turn in assignments or re-take any missed or failed tests.
- If your student has a 504 plan, make sure the teacher and student are following the accommodations and modifications in the plan.
