Important Opening of School Information

  • • Eligible students who are enrolled in CMS by August 12 and have registered for transportation services, should have a stop for the first day of school, Monday, August 25. Note: Registered means the student has been entered in Infinite Campus and requested transportation via the ’2025-26 Intent-to-Ride’ by 6:00 PM on August 12.

    • Eligible students who have moved, had a change in Infinite Campus, and have registered for transportation between August 13 and August 22, should have their stop in place for the afternoon bus ride Tuesday, August 26. This includes new students enrolled within the dates above. Note: Priority is given to eligible students requesting service to and from home to school, it may take several weeks to process alternate stops/daycare stops at the beginning of the school year

    • Eligible students who have moved, had a change in Infinite Campus, and have registered for transportation between August 23 and August 26, should have their stop in place for the afternoon bus ride on Thursday, August 28. Note: priority is given to eligible students requesting service to and from home to school, it may take several weeks to process alternate stops/daycare stops at the beginning of the school year. 

    • Eligible students who have moved, had a change in Infinite Campus, and have registered for transportation between August 27 and August 29, and are eligible for transportation should have their stop in place for the afternoon bus ride on Wednesday, September 3.  This includes new students enrolled within the dates above. Note: Priority is given to eligible students requesting service to and from home to school, it may take several weeks to process alternate stops/daycare stops at the beginning of the school year.  

    • Students who have moved, had their new address recorded in PowerSchool on August 30 or later, and are eligible for transportation will have their bus stop set by the Transportation Area office through the AlphaRoute program.

  • Who We Are

    Transportation Services takes great pride in providing reliable and safe transportation services to students in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

    Led by Executive Director Vec Dunn, CMS Transportation employs over 1,201 staff members who work tirelessly to support students' safe and efficient transportation in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. The CMS transportation service area is vast, with 14 operation area offices, including a full turn-key maintenance division, a safety and training operation, a routing and scheduling division, and central office support staff. The Transportation department is responsible for maintaining a fleet of nearly 1,120 buses.
