    • Tutor.com (https://cmlibrary.org/resource/tutorcom-live-homework-help): This page takes you to learn more information about Tutor.com in English and Spanish; each ONE Access account can access 10 free tutoring sessions each week. There is a tutorial on this site, and families can click "Access Now" to access this free resource. NOTE: ONE Access students should enter their student ID number as the username and their birth year or birth month/day as the password (July 4 is 0704).

    • Reading Buddies (https://cmlibrary.org/reading-buddies): We offer 30-minute one-on-one appointments weekly with Library staff and volunteers virtually and in person at 9 Library branches (we hope to continue adding more each semester). We seek to spread the joy and power of reading! Students are paired for the whole semester. Our semester has already begun, but families are welcome to put themselves on the waiting list for virtual appointments in case slots become available (on the website), or they can visit their nearest Library branch to sign up for an in-person slot (many slots available still at the Plaza Midwood Library).

    • ONE Access page for Elementary School: This page links to online digital resources that students can access with their ONE Access Library accounts (Student ID numbers). Resources include online databases for research, Pebble Go Science, Scholastic Go!, PowerKnowledge Science series, and more. Many of these resources feature interactive games and articles (with read aloud features) that can be used in the classroom and at home as well.

    • ONE Access page for Middle School: This page links to online digital resources that middle school students can access with their ONE Access Library accounts. Resources include research databases, Transparent Language (software similar to a Rosetta Stone, etc.), World Book Encyclopedia, and Teen Health and Wellness (providing articles and advice on many topics a teen may not wish to ask an adult).

    • All Library Resources: A-Z List (https://cmlibrary.org/resources): This is an entire list of resources that everyone can access with Library cards or ONE Access student and teacher accounts. There are so many options that teachers, students and families should take advantage of including online newspapers/magazines (Charlotte Observer, NY Times, etc), videos (Access Video) and music (Freegal), online journals and databases, online courses (Universal Class and LinkedIn Learning), and more- all free!

    • Library Programming for all ages (https://cmlibrary.org/calendar): Library programs take place virtually and in person at all Library locations! These programs provide educational support and supplemental learning for students. Programs for elementary schoolers include: Family Storytime, Story Explorers, Rookie Science, Creating with Books, Paws to Read, and more! Programs for middle/high Schoolers include: SAT prep with The Princeton Review, Northstar Proctored Assessments, Escape Rooms, Gaming Programs, Community Service Projects, and our College and Career Programming, where we offer mock interviews for teens, college application help, and one on one appointments (called My Next Step) with Library staff to help figure out next steps after high school. We also offer programs for parents and caregivers including monthly Parent Lunch and Learns (virtual sessions during the lunch hour to learn about a new topic and connect with other caregivers), Active Reading Family Workshops, and other programs in partnership with other organizations (Teen Health Connection, Basics of Mecklenburg Co., etc.)

    Read Charlotte

Read Charlotte is a community initiative that unites educators, community partners, and families to improve children’s reading from birth to third grade. We don’t run programs. We are a capacity-building intermediary that supports local partners to apply evidence-based knowledge about effective reading instruction and interventions, high-quality execution, continuous improvement, and data analysis to improve reading outcomes.

    YMCA Readers

Y Readers is the YMCA of Greater Charlotte's nationally recognized literacy program that serves students in grades K-3 who are reading below grade level. The program operates as a six-week summer camp as well as a before/after school program, serving 800 students annually across three school districts. Y Readers combines an innovative curriculum, fun learning environment, and a team of certified teachers and committed volunteers to reverse summer learning loss and close the achievement gap in the hopes of keeping students engaged in learning and motivated to succeed.
