Digital Citizenship
-
Our students live in a digitally connected world where they use technology in many facets of their lives. They spend time online doing schoolwork and homework, as well as communicating with friends, family, and the world through social media. All students need digital citizenship skills to participate fully in their communities and make smart choices online and in life. In Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, we utilize the Common Sense Education Digital Citizenship Curriculum which provides lessons that align with the North Carolina Digital Learning Standards to ensure that our students are able to navigate the digital world and be good stewards of digital tools. Students develop skills that will encourage them to become motivated, self-reliant, productive citizens in our digital world by learning about important topics such as cyberbullying, digital footprint, online privacy, media balance, safety, and news & media literacy.
Common Sense Media provides helpful resources for families who want to help their students to navigate a digital world. These resources are located under the “Parents Need to Know Tab” and are grouped by age/topic.
