Required Immunizations/Vaccines

In compliance with North Carolina law (General Statute 130A-152-157), parents/guardian must present certification of the required immunizations at the age required by law on or before the first day a student enters school. Any religious exemptions must be presented in writing to the school. Medical exemptions must be completed by a physician and must state the basis for the exemption.
Most immunizations are due when a student enters kindergarten, additional immunizations are required upon entry into 7th grade and 12th grade. A list of required immunizations is provided in the Notice of Requirements SY 2024-25).

Physical Exams/Health Assessments

Any student new to NC public schools must present a physical documented on the Health Assessment Transmittal Form. The health assessment must have been completed within 12 months prior to the date the child was eligible to enroll. (General Statute 130A-440; 10A NCAC09.3005)
COVID-19 Testing & Vaccines

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and Mecklenburg County Public Health are partnering with StarMed Healthcare to provide COVID-19 testing at two drive-thru school parking lot sites. During the summer, these sites have limited schedules.
GARINGER HIGH SCHOOL TESTING ON MONDAYS AND WEDNESDAYS 8am-2pm
JAMES MARTIN MIDDLE SCHOOL TESTING ON TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS 10am-3pm

COVID-19 Testing is recommended for anyone exposed to COVID-19 or experiencing symptoms.
Additional COVID-19 Testing & Vaccine Sites

CMS is working closely with Mecklenburg County Public Health to share information and coordinate access to vaccines for our student population age five and older. Mecklenburg County Public Health is partnering with vaccine providers to host events and promote sites all over the county.
