The team consists of counselors and social workers who partner with teachers, staff, parents, and students in a variety of ways.

    ML Counselors

    • Monitor and advise ML students who are at risk of not graduating with their 9th grade cohort.
    • Collaborate with school counselors, ML teachers, social workers, students, and their families to support graduation plans.
    • Evaluate international transcripts and provide grade level placement recommendations.

    ML Bilingual Social Workers

    • Focus on ML/EL students, providing dropout prevention/intervention support.
    • Meet 1:1 with students at school or during home visits, depending on the level of need to address attendance, academics, barriers to their education, etc.
    • Reach out to a parent/guardian to address any of these concerns via calls to the home, home visits, or school meetings
    • Collaborate with school counselors and social workers to address the needs of ML students, ensuring a team approach to student support.
    • Empower students during individual meetings by reviewing their academic and attendance data, educating them on graduation requirements and school attendance policies, and providing them with contact information for school support.
    • Partner with ML & general ed teachers for newcomer grading accommodation questions and any additional needs expressed by the students with their assignments, etc.
