My name is Harrison Conyers Jr. I am from Paxville, South Carolina, and my parents are Harrison and Hallie Conyers Sr. I have been happily married to my wife, Dr. LeAnne W. Conyers, for sixteen years. We are proud parents of two children, Landon and Addison.

I began my career in 1999, teaching seventh-grade math and coaching football, basketball, and track at Manning Middle School in Manning, South Carolina. In 2000, I moved to Gaston County and started teaching eighth-grade math and coaching football and basketball at Southwest Middle School. After a year, I left Gaston County and taught at Coulwood Middle School in Charlotte. When I returned to Gaston County, I taught math at Hunter Huss High School and then became a principal assistant. I worked in that role for four years and was a finalist for Assistant Principal of the Year in my last year. I then worked at Warlick Academy in Gaston County for seven years and served as a principal. While serving as principal at Warlick Academy, I was a finalist for Principal of the Year. I also worked as co-principal at Reid Park Academy for one year before becoming the principal of the Performance Learning Center High School.

I earned my high school diploma from Manning High School and then attended Concord College in Athens, West Virginia for a year, where I played football. I then transferred to Voorhees College in Denmark, South Carolina, where I earned a Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics. During my time at Voorhees College, I ran track, and our team won three conference championships. I earned my teacher certification from Gardner Webb University and later earned my Master's in Educational Leadership from Cambridge College in Boston, Massachusetts.

I am a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., currently serving as the Cub Master. I am also a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, where I serve as a Deacon and Rotarian. My philosophy is that the road to success has different paths, and it is up to you to decide which way to choose. You can choose your actions, but not your consequences. My favorite poem is "God’s Minute," written by Benjamin Mays, and it drives me to make every minute count.

I have proactively served North Carolina communities for nineteen years as an Instructional Leader. I have diligently, happily, and professionally collaborated with community constituents to brand schools and help the communities grow. I have designed professional development opportunities for constituents to understand and better utilize education tools, resources, and strategies to effectively serve and engage all students. I have collaboratively overseen everything from effective curriculum implementation to budgets to discipline. I have dedicated my career to serving communities through a collaborative approach, striving for each individual student to identify their talents and skills to use and become extraordinary citizens.

I am a proud wife and mother of two beautiful daughters who attend CMS schools and three handsome stepsons who graduated from CMS schools. I am a lifelong learner with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Performance Psychology, a master's degree in Education, and a master's degree in Business Administration and School Administration. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, exploring delicacies at different restaurants, golfing, and learning new things; I’m currently learning how to create podcasts for businesses/entrepreneurs. 

I am a strong believer that if you "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it." This proverb stays close to my heart. A village trained me, motivated me, and still to this day encourages me, and I believe every child deserves and needs their own village.
