It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the Principal of Dilworth Elementary School. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such a rich tradition of education! I couldn’t be happier to continue working with you and your children.
I have been dedicated to the field of education for more than twenty years. I have been a classroom teacher for both First and Fourth Grade, a Reading Specialist for grades K – 5, Literacy Facilitator and Assistant Principal. This will be my 5th year as the principal of Dilworth Elementary. I hold my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Elon University and two master degrees. My first masters was obtained from Queens University in 2006 and specializes in Reading and my second masters is from Winthrop University and is in School Leadership.
In addition to my career in education, I have been married to my husband, John for the last twenty five years and we have two amazing kids. Jackson, my son, is a sophmore at UNC Chapel Hill and Kennedy, my daughter, is a senior at Myers Park High School. Although both my husband and I grew up in the north we relocated here after college and all of our family followed suit shortly thereafter. We now have 20 additional family members who live here in Charlotte, including 8 nieces and nephews, two sets of Grandparents, and many sisters and brothers. As I am sure you can imagine, we stay pretty busy!
I look forward to celebrating our many successes and I welcome your conversations and input along the way. I am passionate about educating children and realize the importance of strong connections between the home and school can make on a child’s success and I am excited to lead this journey with you.
I look forward to continuing our partnership as the year continues!
