    Principal Crawford

It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the Principal of Dilworth Elementary School. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such a rich tradition of education! I couldn’t be happier to continue working with you and your children.

I have been dedicated to the field of education for more than twenty years. I have been a classroom teacher for both First and Fourth Grade, a Reading Specialist for grades K – 5, Literacy Facilitator and Assistant Principal. This will be my 5th year as the principal of Dilworth Elementary. I hold my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Elon University and two master degrees. My first masters was obtained from Queens University in 2006 and specializes in Reading and my second masters is from Winthrop University and is in School Leadership.

In addition to my career in education, I have been married to my husband, John for the last twenty five years and we have two amazing kids. Jackson, my son, is a sophmore at UNC Chapel Hill and Kennedy, my daughter, is a senior at Myers Park High School. Although both my husband and I grew up in the north we relocated here after college and all of our family followed suit shortly thereafter. We now have 20 additional family members who live here in Charlotte, including 8 nieces and nephews, two sets of Grandparents, and many sisters and brothers. As I am sure you can imagine, we stay pretty busy!

I look forward to celebrating our many successes and I welcome your conversations and input along the way. I am passionate about educating children and realize the importance of strong connections between the home and school can make on a child’s success and I am excited to lead this journey with you.

I look forward to continuing our partnership as the year continues!

    Assistant Principal Taylor

Hello! My name is Lane Taylor! I am excited to be your Assistant Principal. I have lived in Dilworth since moving to Charlotte in 1997 ~ it is my home and my heart! My husband, Brett, and I have been married for over 25 years and are the proud parents of two former Dilworth dragons. Our son, Statton, graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in May 2024 and is back in Charlotte working and living around the corner in Southend. Our daughter, Jordan, is a junior at UNC Chapel Hill, studying English and Spanish.

My career in education has been broken into two parts - before children and after children, with a nine year break in between. I taught for eighteen years in all grades from second through fifth and even did a long term substitute job in kindergarten. In the summer of 2020, I completed the SELA program at Queens University where I earned my Administrative License. I continued at Queens to complete my Master’s in Educational Leadership in May 2021. I was Dean of Students at Dilworth for two years and love being the Assistant Principal.

In my spare time I enjoy cooking, reading, working out at OrangeTheory, and playing golf and pickleball. I love being at Dilworth Elementary and am thrilled to be able to serve our dragons and their families.

My name is Celeste Bailey. This is my 3rd year as a Dilworth dragon.  Prior to coming to Dilworth, I was a classroom teacher for 12 years and an Early Childhood Education Director for the YMCA.  I received my degree from James Madison University and my Masters in Leadership from Winthrop University.

My husband and I have been married 24 years and moved to Charlotte after we graduated from JMU. We have 3 children. Caroline is a junior at UNC Chapel Hill, Cole is a first-year student at Appalachian State and Colin is a sophomore at South Mecklenburg High school.

In my spare time, I love to read, cook, exercise or watch college sports, but most of all I love being outdoors!
