  • Uniform Expectations

    Idlewild is a uniform school. Our students must wear their uniforms each day unless it is a School Spirit Week or a Non-Uniform Day sponsored by the school or the PTA.

    Uniform shirts may be white, navy blue, or light blue. Uniform bottoms may be khaki or navy pants, and maybe skirts, short,s or jumpers.

    To promote school spirit, students can wear an Idlewild Elementary School Spirit Shirt any day of the week with their uniform pants.

    Shoes should be weather and school appropriate.

  • Inclement Weather Policy

    In the event we experience inclement weather, please DO NOT call the school. Listen to the radio, TV News, or check the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Webpage, they will announce any early dismissals or school closings. A decision is usually made by 5:30 am. REMEMBER we are Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools in Mecklenburg County.

    In case the school needs to contact you, please make sure the school has the most current phone numbers to reach you (workplace, home, and cell). Please discuss with your child how they are to go home on days of early dismissal.

    The school building does not open until 8:45 am. Please do not leave your children outside the school building before that time. It can be very cold and still quite dark.

    Make sure your children are dressed warmly. We often accumulate many coats and jackets in the "Lost & Found", have your child check there if he/she is missing a coat.
