Welcome to Rama Road Elementary!

My name is Jaimie Peterson and I am honored to introduce myself as the new principal of Rama Road Elementary. I am a proud native of Charlotte! I attended McClintock “Junior High School” and graduated from East Mecklenburg High School. Rama Road Elementary, the surrounding neighborhoods and community are very special to me having grown up across the street from Rama in Stonehaven. I have quickly learned that Rama Road is a “hidden gem” in the heart of the community—Rama Road is a school that encompasses a nurturing, small-school feel where relationships come first. A school where every student is valued, every family is welcomed, and every staff member is deeply committed to student success! 

I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Queens University of Charlotte. I also hold a specialized Academically and Intellectually Gifted (AIG) License from the University of Virginia. Over the past 30 years in CMS I have been a classroom teacher, an AIG teacher/facilitator, and an Assistant principal, most recently at Irwin Academic Center.These experiences have shaped my belief in whole-child education and deepened my commitment to instructional excellence, equity, and staff development. I’m passionate about supporting teachers, building strong relationships with families, as well as partnerships within our community, and fostering a collaborative school culture where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.

I am committed and dedicated to continuing to build a school community rooted in trust, transparency, mutual respect and shared success. I believe that when our amazing Rama Road staff, our families, and the community work together, students thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally.
