We are proud to be a North Carolina PBIS MODEL School!
The Rama Road Elementary community is committed to creating and maintaining a calm and inviting learning environment conducive to the highest levels of learning for every scholar. Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports (PBIS) are used at Rama Road to ensure that every scholar has the opportunity to access their learning without the risk of distraction during the course of their learning day.PBIS is a schoolwide initiative where a consistent set of positive expectations for learning are taught and reinforced in every classroom, hallway and major transition areas of the school - starting everything we do with kindness and a belief that every child can learn. Our scholars have been very successful with this initiative, demonstrating reduced numbers of discipline referrals throughout the school year.
Teachers begin each day with a morning meeting in which students in their classrooms have a chance to learn positive & age-appropriate approaches to social interactions and expressing feelings while working with their classmates to build a positive and kind classroom community. Teachers at Rama Road use the SPOT Curriculum to lead SEL (social emotional learning) lessons supported by School Counselors use of Zone of Regulation instruction. The Rama Road team also utilizes a Restorative Practice model for positive interactions and healing conversations across our entire community.
RRES scholars recite a student pledge every day to help them focus their minds on learning, demonstrating self-control and being responsible in the school environment:
As a Rama Road School student, I will be RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE and READY TO LEARN. I choose to learn. I can learn. I will learn.
