Dr. Colleen E. Grosse, Assistant Principal - 7th Grade

Dr. Grosse moved to Charlotte in 2013 after she taught in Newark, NJ as part of the Rutgers EOF program. She earned a master's degree from Johns Hopkins University, a post-masters certificate in Administration from UNC Charlotte, and earned her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from UNC Charlotte. She began teaching math at Garinger High School until 2019. She has served in a number of roles in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools including time as a principal intern at Mallard Creek and assistant principal at W. A. Hough High school before joining the lion family in 2023. This is her third year at MLK and she loves working with the younger siblings and families of former and new students on the northeast and eastside of Charlotte. 

Ms. Natasha Miles, Dean of Students - 6th grade

With over 15 years of dedicated service in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, Ms. Miles bring a strong background in special education and instructional support. She spent 8 years as a District Itinerant Coordinating Teacher, working closely with educators across Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools to enhance inclusive practices and student success. This year, she is proud to serve as the 6th grade Dean of Students at MLK! She is committed to fostering a supportive, engaging, and inclusive environment where every student can thrive.

Ms. Nijer Spears, Senior Administrative & Financial Secretary

Nijer Spears is our Financial Secretary dedicated to providing exceptional support to our students and staff. With over 5 years of experience, Nijer is proficient in managing financial documents, processing invoices, and assisting with the school budget. She excels at maintaining accurate records, ensuring adherence to financial regulations, and contributing to the smooth operation of daily tasks.
