Mrs. Summer Rogers

Dear Knights View Royal Familes, 

My name is Summer Rogers.  I am honored to be the principal of Knights View Elementary School.  

This will be my 25th year in education and in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District.  I graduated from Western Carolina University and began my career as a 4th grade teacher.  I also taught 6th grade English Language Arts and coached cheerleading and track.  Over the next several years, I was a literacy facilitator and an academic facilitator for Grades K-8.  Next, I attended Winthrop University and obtained my Administrative Degree.  I served as an Elementary and Middle School Assistant Principal. During this time, I completed the Assistant Principal Academy at Queens University. I also received an Exceptional Children’s certification and completed the Principal Academy from Queens University in 2021.  Lastly, I served as the principal of Ballantyne Elementary School for 6 years. Now, I am the proud principal of Knights View Elementary School! 

I am also a daughter, a sister, a wife, and a mother.  I am the oldest of 3 girls.  Most of my family lives in Western North Carolina.  I have been married to my husband, Dean, for 18 years.  I have a 16 year old daughter, Haley, and a 12 year old son, Tanner. Our family also has a 5 year old chocolate labradoodle, Lexi.  On the weekends, I am always cheering my kids on at either a baseball or softball game!  

I love my job.  I love what I do, who I do it for, who I do it with, and where I do it!   My goal is to have the most amazing school ever for our students, our staff, our families, and our community.  As a principal, I will focus on culture, academics, and leadership for all students.  

I believe that all staff and students are leaders.  I believe students are leaders of their learning, their behavior, and in the school and community.  

I can’t wait to see all that we accomplish together at Knights View Elementary School!
