• Our Philosophy 

    David Cox Road Elementary is a neighborhood school proudly serving students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through fifth grade.  We are a school community committed to creating safe, inclusive, academically rigorous, and student-centered learning environments that challenge students to high levels of achievement.  Through purposeful instruction in academic and social-emotional well-being, we provide opportunities for all students to achieve their personal best.  We actively support students to become problem solvers, critical thinkers, and responsible citizens. 

    David Cox Road Elementary is committed to continuous improvement.  Through the work of our staff, we seek to provide continuous feedback to evaluate student learning, support continued teacher growth, and to engage the community in the shared ownership of our students.  

    Parents are encouraged to participate in our school community as parental engagement is vital to the success of each student and our school.  We actively encourage parents to volunteer in the school, join our School Improvement Team and PTO, and to contribute to our school community. 

    Quick Facts 

    David Cox Road Elementary provides instruction to students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. Students are provided learning through the use of traditional and direct instruction, including the use of classroom technology tools, iPads, Chromebooks, and more. We will provide literacy instruction utilizing the EL curriculum, district resources for science and social studies, and Illustrative Mathematics for math instruction.

    We are a PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) school, which means we focus on practices and systems that provide proactive support to students, which in turn minimizes unwanted behaviors.

    Located in North Charlotte near the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, we are 10 minutes from 485, located near W.T. Harris Blvd.  The school's physical address is 4215 David Cox Rd. Charlotte, NC 28269.
