Michael Jerrell
My name is Michael Jerrell and I am the proud principal of McClintock Middle School. I began my teaching career as a math teacher at Phillip O. Berry Academy and North Mecklenburg High School, where I taught everything from Math 1 to pre-calculus. From there, I have held many positions in the last 8 years, including resident principal, math facilitator, district math specialist, assistant principal, and, most recently, principal at Bain Elementary in Mint Hill.
At McClintock, we are committed to academic excellence every day. We will deliver grade level, engaging, affirming, and meaningful instruction to all students every day. We boast an extensive STEAM program that has earned praise and accolades from local and district organizations, including being named a Top Magnet School of Excellence in 2023. We offer programs like Robotics, Digital Art, and other STEAM programs to all students.
I am a proud graduate of the University of Florida, where I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Family, Youth, and Community Sciences with a minor in Secondary Education. I also earned my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Winthrop University. My wife, Shaynah, is the owner and CEO of the Aquatic Team of Mecklenburg (ATOM), a competitive club swim team in Charlotte. I also have a son, Aiden, and a daughter, Layla, who are both competitive swimmers. In addition to being a Florida Gators fan, I am also a long-suffering Atlanta Falcons fan.
I strongly believe in maintaining an open, consistent, and clear relationship with families and community members. Please reach out at any time via email at james1.jerrell@cms.k12.nc.us.
Sincerely,
Michael Jerrell
