• Enrollment at Sedgefield Montessori

The School Choice lottery for the 2024-2025 school year has closed. Notification results for those who participated will be available at the end of January. Look for your letter in the mail! If you missed this year’s lottery, the next opportunity for families to try for a seat at a magnet school with space is through participation in the reassignment/transfer process. This process is handled by Student Placement, and it opens February 1st. A list of schools with space and the link to apply will be housed at www.cmschoice.org starting February 1st. These requests ARE processed on a first come, first served basis. The deadline for families to apply and receive a result before the 2024-2025 school year starts is July 15th (June 30th for early and middle college programs).

We are full for the 2024-2025 school year. The next lottery is for the 2025-2026 school year. Information about magnet programs and the lottery is available at www.cmschoice.org.

Lottery Process = Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and Grade 1

Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and 1st grade enrollment in Sedgefield Montessori is through the CMS Magnet Lottery Process ONLY. The CMS Student Placement office handles the lottery process. Information regarding the lottery process, including the cost for PreKindergarten, can be found at https://cmschoice.org/ (link opens in a new window). Because of the specialized sequence of coursework taken in the Montessori program, the School Choice Lottery application process only permits rising Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and First grade students to apply through the lottery process.

    Late Entry Process

While Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and First grade present the most optimal entry points for Montessori teaching and learning, the Late Entry Process is available for students above First grade.  This process is best suited for students who are currently enrolled in a Montessori program outside of CMS, have immediate, prior Montessori classroom experience, or demonstrate an equivalent degree of compatibility to the Montessori approach.  This unique Montessori instructional approach can present a challenging shift for students transitioning from traditional schools after Grade 1. A successful transition requires the student and family to fully understand and embrace the Montessori philosophy and instructional practices along with its emphasis on intrinsic motivation, cooperative community, self-direction, strong character, order, concentration and coordination. The Late Entry evaluation process is instrumental in making this determination. Please note, due to historically low turnover in Montessori schools, seats typically do not become available after Kindergarten.

Please click on this link https://cmschoice.org/lateentryrequirements/ (link opens in a new window) for additional information about the late entry process.
