Dear McKee Road Elementary families,
Since opening in 1989, McKee Road Elementary has had a rich history of academic success and service to our community. Our goal is to create citizen students capable of solving problems and we provide a strong academic foundation to carry our students into secondary education and beyond. Students promoted from McKee Road Elementary will also understand the importance of citizenship and serving others. We are committed to providing students with a positive and well-rounded learning experience.
Our students participate in multiple service projects each school year. Our Service Club for fourth- and fifth-graders supports a variety of non-profit organizations, including specific programs run by other CMS students within our school feeder pattern. Academics and service to others are the core of our school mission.
I invite you to participate in our school community as often as you can. Please remember to register as a CMS volunteer. All volunteers must register each year and select McKee Road Elementary as the site. Please also remember to bring your ID to sign in whenever you are entering the school as we are working diligently to keep our school safe.
We are building each year on a tradition of excellence and academic success, setting higher goals for ourselves and our students. We have received a letter grade of A based upon criteria established by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. We have also been nationally recognized as a Blue Ribbon school.
Finally, I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. I’ve been in education for 22 years. I am a native of North Carolina, having lived my entire life in Union County. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a bachelor's degree in history and earned a master’s degree in educational leadership from Winthrop University. I also completed the Distinguished Leadership in Practice program through the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Before joining CMS as an assistant principal at Hawk Ridge Elementary, I worked in Union County Public Schools as a teacher, coach and administrator.
As a principal, I am committed to providing the best education possible to each of our students and I believe that every child can succeed in school. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns at 980-343-3970. I look forward to working with you to ensure that McKee Road Elementary continues to offer a challenging, effective educational experience in a safe, happy atmosphere.
Thank you for choosing Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and McKee Road Elementary.
