Hello RWSA family!!

My name is Demetrus McDaniel and I am
your principal. I firmly believe that every child can learn and excel
academically, provided they are convinced that their potential is
being genuinely recognized and supported. Relationships are key!

I began my career as a teacher in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools
28 years ago. After 20 years as a classroom teacher, I
transitioned into educational leadership. I have previously worked
as a Literacy Facilitator, Multi-Classroom Leader, and Dean of
Students and Assistant Principal.

I am originally from Greensboro, North Carolina, where I
completed my Undergraduate Degree in Elementary Education at
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. I have
completed two Master's degrees, one in Elementary Education
from Pfeiffer University and another in Instruction and Supervision
from Gardner Webb University.

I am married to my best friend and we share three wonderful and
“spirited” daughters - Cameran (29), Michaela(23), and
Octavia(15).

I am ready and excited to be a part of and serve the Renaissance
West STEAM Academy Family!
