Mrs. Shannon E. Hamilton
Croft Community School Families,
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! It is an honor and a privilege to serve the amazing students and families of the Croft community. Our team is confident that the 2024-2025 school year will be an exciting and inspiring year that continues to yield academic growth for every student!
Croft Community School opened its doors in 2008 with a mission to collaborate and create an inclusive, student-centered environment that supports the development of independent thinkers and learners. We are a unique community with deep ties to the history of Charlotte and the community of Croft. Croft still appears on most maps of the area and the original Croft schoolhouse is now a registered historical landmark!
As a school, we are at our best when we are working in partnership with you, the parent/guardian! As partners, we share the responsibility for our student’s successes. At Croft Community School, we believe that we build a community of learners, with parents as partners and teachers as leaders. We look forward to a great partnership that benefits the greater Croft community.
In line with our Superintendent’s charge, at Croft we are committed to, “Excellence without Exception” and ensuring, “Endless Possibilities Start with CMS.” This means you can and should expect that your student’s experience, and your experience, will be one that makes you proud to be a part of our school and our community! This also means we expect excellence from each student, without exception!
Lastly, a little about me. I am originally from Albany, New York. I moved to Charlotte and joined CMS in 2006. I earned my bachelor’s in both general education and special education from Providence College (Go Friars) and my master’s in education from Winthrop University. In CMS, I have been a teacher, facilitator, Curriculum Coordinator for the North Learning Community and an Executive Coordinator for the Office of School Performance. Prior to joining the Croft family, I served as the principal of Long Creek Creative Arts Elementary for five years.
My husband Josh and I have two energetic boys, Rory (7) and Rowan (3). We also have a yellow lab named Callie! Rory is a rising 2nd grader in CMS and Rowan will soon be a CMS student as well. Both of my boys keep me grounded in my pursuit to make every student experience at Croft one of excellence and growth, as this is what I want and expect for my own children in CMS.
Thank you for your continued support of Croft Community School and I look forward to a remarkable 2024-2025 school year!
Go Colts!
In partnership,
Shannon Hamilton
