Middle Years Programme
-
Ballantyne Ridge High School is an applicant for the IB's Middle Years Programme
The IB MYP is designed for students aged 11 to 16. It is provides a comprehensive interdisciplinary curriculum framework that is designed around seven subject groups: Language & Literature (English), Language Acquisition (World Language), Individuals & Societies (Social Studies), Science, Mathematics, Arts & Electives, Design and Health & Physical Education.
How does the IB MYP work with CMS and NC curriculum requirements?
The MYP is a curriculum framework that enhances state and national curriculum to assist students in developing students' knowledge and genuine understanding and ability to apply these concepts into new contexts in preparation for further learning. Learning objectives and standards are met while using inquiry-based teaching and learning to enhance and encourage student interests. MYP courses will encourage academic skill development through the Approaches to Learning for students to learn how they learn best.
The MYP philosophy fosters intercultural awareness. As students mature and develop higher order thinking skills, they explore the subject disciplines in increasing depths and realize how those disciplines are linked to each other and to local and global issues.
