• About Us

    Esperanza is the Spanish word for hope or expectation. Esperanza Global Academy (EGA) opened our doors in August 2023 to approximately 400 children in the east section of Charlotte, North Carolina.   East Charlotte is home to a growing global community with people and businesses from around the world.

     

    EGA provides hope to our students and families by providing a high-quality education that prepares our scholars to lead exceptional lives. Our parents expect that we will deliver an education that prepares their children to achieve their dreams. We will exceed this expectation.

     

    We began as a relief school for overcrowding in East Charlotte for four schools (Winterfield, Idlewild, Albemarle Road elementary schools and absorbed the non-magnet students from Charlotte East Language Academy).  Our building was designed by Neighboring Concepts.  Our building is a 45 classroom ES, at approximately 100,000 square feet, serving grades K-5.   Construction was led by Rogers / Holt Bros. III.  A large number of the construction workers were from the local Hispanic community.

    Our Mascots

    At Esperanza Global Academy, our mascot is the jaguar, a majestic large cat that lives in the jungles of Central and South America.  The jaguar symbolizes confidence, power, courage, and patience.  Our jaguar always travels with his friend, Mari the butterfly.  A butterfly is a symbol of hope and immigration because they travel far and wide to find new homes that are safe.

     

    • As a symbol of CONFIDENCE, the jaguar reminds you to hold your head high. The spirit of the jaguar is to aspire for mastery in all that you pursue to fulfill your purpose.

    • As a symbol of POWER, the jaguar is a reminder that we are capable of achieving much more than we might think we can.  

    • As a symbol of COURAGE, the jaguar challenges you to face fears and confront both enemies and barriers head-on.  The ancient Aztecs regarded the jaguar as the bravest of beasts, and the proud ‘ruler of the animal world’.

    • As a symbol of  PATIENCE, the jaguar knows there is a time to move, and a time to wait and breathe. Breathing centers you while waiting conserves your energy. Jaguars know when to pounce.

    • As a symbol of HOPE, the butterfly shows us how we can transform into something greater and the incredible feats we can achieve when we trust ourselves.
