Oaklawn Weekly Connect Ed – Feb 11, 2024

Good evening Oaklawn Family! 

 

This is Principal Trangsrud with your weekly Oaklawn Connect-Ed. 

 

Wednesday Feb 14^th is Valentine’s & Friendship Day, and there are 3 events to remember:

• It is Early Release Day. Students will be dismissed at 1:15 pm for pickup by 1:30 pm. Students cannot be released earlier than that time.  Please make sure your child’s teacher knows how he/she will be getting home. The afterschool program at the church will be open.  Parents must stay in their cars; we do not allow parents to walk up unless they are regular walkers.
• It is Dress Down Day and students may pay $1 to dress out of uniform. It is a regular uniform day if students chose not to pay the $1.  All clothes need to adhere to the CMS dress code; no PJ’s, Crocs, slides, or flip flops. 
• Our Valentine Day store will be open from 8:30 to 9:30 am.

Classrooms may exchange Friendship cards on Feb. 14th.  The cards may have candy or individually wrapped snacks with it.  All items will be sent home with students and not eaten at school.  Please ask your child's teacher if his/her classroom is participating in the exchange.

 

Save the date!  This year, Oaklawn will celebrate the Multicultural Fair "Different Cultures, Same Smiles" on Saturday, March 9th. This is our annual showcase of student performances.  During this event, there will also be our second annual Cultural Market outside, which will have music, food and items for sale from our very own Oaklawn families and their small businesses! This event will take place from 9:30 to 2:00 pm, in two different blocks. Be on the lookout for more information from your student’s teacher about the block and time of your child’s performance.

 

On Friday, our school store will be open as usual from 8:45 am to 9:15 am.

¡Buenas noches familia Oaklawn!

 

Este es un mensaje de la directora Trangsrud con su conexión telefónica semanal.

El miércoles 14 de febrero es el Día de San Valentín y de la Amistad, y hay 3 eventos para recordar:

• Es día de salida temprana. Los estudiantes saldrán a la 1:15 para que sean recogidos a más tardar a la 1:30 pm. Los estudiantes no podrán salir antes de esa hora. Asegúrese de que el maestro sepa cómo su hijo irá a casa. El programa extraescolar en la iglesia estará abierto. Los padres deben permanecer en sus autos. No permitimos que padres se acerquen a la puerta, a menos que el estudiante sea un caminante habitual.

• Es día de vestimenta informal. Los estudiantes podrán pagar $1 para vestirse sin uniforme. Sigue siendo un día de uniforme regular para estudiantes que deciden no pagar $1. Toda la ropa debe cumplir con el código de vestimenta de CMS; no se permiten pijamas, Crocs, zapatos abiertos o chanclas.

• Nuestra tienda del Día de San Valentín estará abierta de 8:30 a 9:30 am.

 

Los compañeros de clase podrán compartir tarjetas de Amistad en el 14 de febrero. Las tarjetas pueden tener dulces o refrigerios en embalaje individual. Todos los artículos se enviarán a casa con los estudiantes y no se comerán en la escuela. Pregúntele al maestro si su salón de clases participará en el intercambio.

 

¡Guarde la fecha! Este año, Oaklawn celebrará la feria multicultural "Diferentes culturas, una misma sonrisa" el sábado, 9 de marzo. Aprovecharemos para presentar las actuaciones de nuestros estudiantes en este escaparate cultural anual. Durante el evento, tendremos también el segundo Mercado Cultural anual al aire libre con música, comida y artículos vendidos por nuestras propias familias de Oaklawn y sus pequeñas empresas. El evento será de 9:30 a las 2:00 de la tarde, en dos bloques diferentes. Esté atento a más informaciones del maestro diciendo el bloque y la hora de la actuación de su hijo.

 

El viernes, la tienda de la escuela estará abierta de 8:45 a 9:15 de la mañana.
