A Strong Start to the 2024-2025 School Year

Creek Community,

Two weeks into our school year and Creek is off to a fantastic start! While our new tardy policy was an adjustment, we are ecstatic that for any given transition 99% of students are getting to class on-time, ready to begin instruction. Here’s a few more celebrations that we shared with staff as school began:

  • Our graduation rate rose by 1.3% last year

  • Mallard Creek led the district in the graduation rate (94%) for multilingual learners (English as a second language)

  • Class of 2025 ended their first week with a senior sunrise event prior to their assembly, hosted by our student leaders

  • Mallard Creek met 2023-2024 expected growth as determined by NCDPI

  • Our enrollment this fall is substantially higher than original projections

  • We are fully staffed as we begin the school year with no teacher vacancies.
  • Mallard Creek is one of seven CMS high schools that celebrated students earning their AP Capstone diplomas! (Ardrey Kell, Independence, Myers Park, Providence, South Meck, & Hough)

While we’re now fully focused on delivering sound instruction in each class, we’re also proud of our SGA and class councils, as they have some outstanding events lined up for their peers this semester. We are reminding students to post club & organization announcements on the student announcements webpage, and we’ll ensure all students know club and organization opportunities during the first quarter. Many club interest meetings have been announced prior to dismissal this week.
