• Hello, 8th Grade Families:

It is my hope that this message finds each of you well. I appreciate all the excitement and inquisition around our annual trip to Washington, DC. Thank you to those who have already secured a seat for yourself, your child, or both. We already have a great number of participation. The trip is scheduled to take place on April 9th-11th, 2025. These dates are right before Spring Break, April 14-18th, 2025.

In order for students to attend, they must display good behavior at AG! In our initial Parent Interest meeting, I stated that after Dec. 2nd students cannot have two incidents of I.S.S. and no O.S.S. Please continue to encourage your child to make wise decisions.

The total cost of the trip is $669.00. Permission slips are due by Jan. 15th.

The deposit: $200.00 (Due by Jan.15th)
    1st payment: $156.34 (Due by Jan. 15th)
    2nd Payment: $156.34 (Due by Feb. 5th)
Final Payment: $156.34 (Due by March 10th)

    The trip is non-refundable…

We are expecting to depart from Alexander Graham on the 9th at 4am and arrive in Washington at 12noon. We will leave Washington on the 11th at 3:30pm and return to campus around 11:30pm.

Our travel agent, Educational Travel Consultants, determines the trip’s itinerary. I cannot change anything. I believe the trip will be educational, fun, and memorable for our students and chaperones.

Many of you have inquired about the request for a notary on the emergency form. This request is for parents who are not attending the trip. In the case of an emergency that may require a parent approval,  the agent wants to ensure that we have legal document to proceed with treatment if we cannot reach the parent. This is a precautionary measure for our travel agent. I apologize to the parents who have gotten the document notarized, and you will be on the trip. For many, this is a new action step. Thanks for your flexibility and understanding.

CMS requires that we have one chaperone per 10 students. I believe we will have more than enough.

The place for lodging has not been determined; however, it will be similar to last year’s hotel stay. I can assure you that it will be nice and accommodating for all that attend. I am unable to make room assignments at this time; however, I will consider student, parent, and chaperone preferences. These assignments will not take place until after the due date for the trip.

If you have any questions, please feel free to peruse the website for updates. The agent will make periodic updates. You are welcome to reach out to me too. If my response to your question is delayed, I will respond as soon as time permits.

Have a great rest of your day,
    Mrs. Brown
