My name is Amira Abdelhafiz (pronounced Ab-del-ha-feez), and I’m honored and excited to introduce myself as the new principal of Villa Heights Elementary.
I was born and raised in Sudan and moved to the United States after college. I spent 17 wonderful years in Jacksonville, FL, before making Charlotte my home. I’m a proud wife and mother of three amazing children: Shahd, Mey, and Ali. In my free time, I enjoy reading, cycling, traveling, and exploring nature.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology and Chemistry, along with a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Queens University. Over the past 17 years, I’ve worked in education with students from kindergarten through middle school. My journey began in the classroom and continued into leadership, most recently serving as assistant principal at Highland Mill Montessori.
These experiences have shaped my belief in whole-child education and deepened my commitment to instructional excellence, equity, and staff development. I’m passionate about supporting teachers, building strong relationships with families, and fostering a collaborative school culture where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.
This year, I am committed to strengthening high-quality, differentiated instruction that meets the unique needs of every child, building meaningful partnerships with families and the Villa Heights community, and cultivating a warm, inclusive environment rooted in belonging and mutual respect.
I truly believe that when families and schools work together, children thrive. Our theme this year, “Let’s Root for Each Other,” speaks to that belief. I’m excited to partner with you to create a joyful, purposeful, and impactful year for our students.
